Holiday Hoot!

Who gives a hoot about the holidays? This guy:

you can download me here!

Hooray! We've made it to the twelfth month and final month of 2012 and to celebrate all of December's holiday festivities I've made a fun free printable calendar featuring santa owl (link)! Like always you can print this baby out for all your date planning needs and whip him into a homemade upcycled jewel case stand using this tutorial (link). Hoot hoot!

To mark the wonderfulness that is December I'm off to Vancouver today to meet up with my love Fraser on his way home from his practicum! We're spending the weekend in the big city and them will be back to Victoria for the work week and to get a jump on the holiday decorating! I hope to finish up my xmas shopping nice and early this year, get it all out on the mail, and then have a wonderfully relaxing and new holiday tradition filled month! Fraser and I are having a quiet xmas at home and as soon as the big day is over are heading to Vegas for a week with his family! Oh my! What are your December plans?

November/Movember time!

Well it's finally come to that time in the year when the weather keeps getting chillier and men all over try desperately to grow impressive mustaches! Sophisticat has no problems growing one hefty handlebar so naturally he is featured on this month's free printable calendar (link)! Check it out:

Hooray! Like each month you are free to print this puppy out and can turn it into your own desktop/countertop stand up using an old cd jewel case and this tutorial (link). Yay! I used the My Memories software to whip this baby up and really getting the hang of it after six months of calendar making. Since the My Memories people were nice enough to sponsor me, I've even got a discount code on the side bar there if you're interested in trying out their great (and very reasonably priced) software (link) too.  Yay!

As for plans for this month I am finishing up my health class at the Arthritis Center and am aiming for one extra healthy Kate as we head into the holiday season! Hopefully I'll have some spare time in there for a little crafting and etsy shop updates too! How thrilling! Heck, maybe I will even manage to get all my xmas shopping done early this month as well! What a dream! What are your November plans?

A scientific culture-y october!

Happy October! Looks like we're in for another month of crafty fun here on the blog - as well as another free printable calendar (link)! This month my glassware decided to be extra festive and dressed up in spooky costumes for you:

you can download me here!

Hooray! So it's really more cute than spooky...but that sort of suits my style so I rolled with it. I am really loving how this month's calendar turned out and I am really getting a hang of all the awesome features in the My Memories digital scrapbook software! Hopefully you enjoy this month's freebie as much as I do and print out your own version and make a little stand for it (using this tutorial I made here!)! Yay!

As for goings on around here - it is going to be the start of two lonely months while Fraser is off in Kamloops doing his practicum (boo) but I am hoping it will give me extra time for crafty productivity! I'm also starting taking rheumatoid health classes on Wednesdays down at the Arthritis Centre and I can't wait! Heck, maybe I'll even get a haircut for the first time in 11 months! Oh what excitement! What are your plans for October?

Foxy September!

Well it looks like we've survived it all the way to September and to celebrate the wonderful arrival of fall - here is a very foxy fall printable calendar to enjoy:

you can download me here!

Yay! I love the little fox and figured some dashes of herringbone and buttons suit him nicely and the My Memories scrapbook software I used made it as cinch! As always this little dude is ready to be printed out, cut, and assembled into a CD jewel case for optimal calendar enjoyment (you can find the tutorial here!). Woo hoo! I also figured fox was a great way to go for September after talking to a customer last week about the calendar print outs I do. She suggested I do one with a fox on it and (as always) I aim to please! Hooray!

As for my month, I've got one last market to attend tomorrow and then attempt to organize and craft myself ready for the xmas consignment season! It never ends over here and with the new arrival of our roommate Jim, we've got a packed and busy place! Both of the boys start school in a few days and I am so looking forward to some crisp mornings and extra layers! Yipee! How about things on your end? What are you gearing up for this month?

Veggie August!

I may still be busy playing with my niece (er...I mean visiting with my sister....) but I managed to whip up a printable August calendar for everyone! This time I used one of the pre-made templates in the My Memories scrapbook software and changed it around a bit to be 1) cute and include veggies, 2) to be a calendar (duh), and 3) be colour coordinated! Yay! Here it is!

you can download me here!

I am pretty happy with how bright and cheery it is and very summer like with some fresh market veg! Whip out those old cd cases and just print, cut, and assemble for your own upcycled calendar stand:

Woo woo! August promises to be a great month here in Kate-land with loads of markets, a nice visit from the family, and the anniversary of my birth! That's right  - come the 25th, this lady is turning 28! Eeps!  Hetty and Jim are both moving to town near the end of the month too! How exciting! What are your August plans?

Amanita July!

Hooray! We've made it to July and it is time for the weather to turn summery (take that as a threat Mother Nature - I'm losing patience!), and we have an entire month of sunshine-y goodness! It also means it's time for a new printable calendar here on the blog and since I've been all about the amantias as of late - how about a nice bright mushroom themed one for the month! Yay!

you can download me here!

Just like last months, I made this baby using the My Memories software and I am totally loving how simple it is to use! I was a little sad I couldn't alter a few of the colours (in case you weren't aware - I am very choosey when it comes to colours, my parents even call me "the colour police!"), but since summer is in full swing I opted to keep the bright yellows in there to suit the season! Yeah! Also similar to our yarn-filled June printable, this baby is perfectly sized for printing, cutting, and displaying in a CD jewel case:

Ack! Looks like I didn't update that DIY to match the month, but I've been busy busy busy crafting away and figured the instructions were just too good to change (no, laziness wasn't in play here...hehe...). I hope you enjoy the smiling mushroom for the month and hopefully the calendar will even help you plan out your month!

As for my July, Fraser and I have a boat full of visitors coming all month long! Whew, I'm sure time will fly faster than ever and I'm hoping to be able to get out (slopped in sunscreen of course) and enjoy some summer heat! Heck - we may even join in the festivities downtown today and help bring in Canada Day! Do I work at 5am tomorrow morning? Yes. Will that stop me? Heck no! Happy birthday Canada! What do you have planned for July?

Yarn-y June!

I've been thinking about making a printable calendar for the blog for a while now and no time like the present to jump on that one! So behold - a very yarn-y june:

you can download me here!
Hooray! I had so much fun creating this month's calendar using some sweet design software called My Memories. It ended up being the perfect program to use because it is super user friendly, has loads of fun options (and templates if you aren't feeling creative), and is ridiculously more inexpensive than photoshop (triple win)!

I'm a huge fan of having a calendar around and find them super handy for planning my week. I particularly like having one on my desk where I do most of my blogging and organizing and came up with a handy way to have my printable one stand up - all you need is a CD jewel-case! Sounds great! Take a look at how it's done:

As easy as that! Print out the calendar, grab an unused CD case, then open, invert, and slip in the paper! Voila! Check out the finished piece:

Yeah! The perfect angle for ideal calendar viewing purposes and a new purpose for my pile of completely useless cd cases! Next you just have to decide optimal placement. Here's a few options I've tried out:

I certainly hope you're as excited about this calendar as I am and have even started a scientific culture flickr group so you can upload any projects (or in this case calendar making) to share (link)! Yay!  Where will you put your yarn-y June printable?
