update

Since my sister and niece are still at my parents house on extended holiday break (lucky) I've been attempting to spend my spare time with them! This isn't the easiest of tasks since my life seems to be jam packed with work, chores, and the sketchbook project! (eep - deadline is looming - tomorrow even!) but the time I have managed to squeak in certainly has been adorable. Just look at how big jean is getting:

I've also discovered that jean really likes to put everything in her mouth...and drool all over it...even when in a jolly jumper (so cute!):

I think percy is jealous....

Boy does he ever look regal there! Maybe jealousy is the wrong word...he's more the type to scheme ways to get attention while remaining evil. Oh stinkums. In other exciting news I'm learning how to knit! Just check out that knit progress:

Haha! Yup! I've successfully made a loop for that knit bow I posted about a while back! And...that's pretty much as far as I've got. Mind you as jean's only aunt I feel my duties have been a necessity while she is here:

Just look at those little feet! Too cute! Now to get back to frantically colouring my sketchbook project! I'll be taking pictures of it once it's done so I can share it with all of you too! Even if my "sketchbook" sort of morphed into a "semi educational children's book"...Did anyone else manage to successfully complete one? I had no idea 80 pages of illustration would be so difficult!

Bloglovin'

Follow my blog with bloglovin

Just in case you are as frustrated as I am with google reader's lame policy on only allowing you to follow 300 blogs I've decided to try out bloglovin'. Nothing like more options on blog reading to perk up the day! Yay!

The best tea cups have hidden animals

The other day I spotted the most adorable tea cups:

Nothing says "I love tea" quite like a woodland creature who reveals himself as you get to the bottom of your mug! How adorable! Now to decide who i like best - fox, owl, or bear (I'm thinking owl...) and all available on amazon! Which do you like best?

And now...a bit of cuteness

Just in case you need an extra bit of cute in your tuesday - behold:

Yup. Really makes me want a kitten riding a tortoise of my very own...oh and it totally gets baby elephant walk stuck in my head. Ok. I should have warned you to mute. It is still adorable though...

Project Restyle

Just in case you haven't heard of project restyle I thought I'd take a moment to tell you about it (and hopefully get some of you excited to start restyling!). Elsie (of a beautiful mess) and Rachel (of smile and wave) decided to hook up and come up with a fun thrifty project for 2011 encouraging you to creatively upcycle your heart out:

All you need to do is create something fabulous from something old, take some before and after shots, then post them on the flickr group! Each week they will chose a few of their favourites to share on their blog I must say I am already swooning over all the restyled projects. Take a look at their roundup of week 1:

If you hadn't guessed it the recycled jersey scarf is my fav (I've already done two posts on those - clearly I need to find a shirt and get crafting), but you must admit that olive green is fantastic! Plus it is super fun to give old items a new life - and you're doing your part for the environment (okay...not always....but I'd like to think so). I totally want to get thrifting and get creating! Any takers?

A year for coasters!

If you're a regular reader of my blog you may have noticed my pack rat collection ways. It seems like every once in a while I become obsessed with one item (jewelery, mugs, salt and pepper shakers, tea pots, etc) and go on a buying binge! Ever since moving in september I seem to be accumulating coasters and I have a sneaking suspicion that coasters will be my addiction for 2011 - especially after seeing the amazing triangle sewn coasters over at purl bee:

Oh my! Those colours and fabrics are to die for! I just love how they look all together! I'd love to make a plethora of them then pick and chose some to lay out like a piece of patchwork quilt as a fancy trivet or table runner! And hey - they are all for the sake of protecting furniture so it's not like this is just another frivolous addiction...or at least that is what I will tell myself....what do you think of them?

why yes, we are the same person.

The other day my friend lindsay sent me a link to a project she saw in country living magazine over the holidays. As it turns out it is pretty much the same project I posted about yesterday (which was pre-scheduled very much before she sent me the link) with a few alterations. Take a peek:

Why hello there pom pom flowers! Made of actual pom poms! Ooo! Clover pom pom maker made pom poms (which I now own thanks to amazon.com)! I am definately going to have to execute this project now, especially because I wasn't entirely sure what I'd use to hold the pom poms up and those little sticks look wonderful! I'm sure this project will be all about the pom colours I use so I will have to brainstorm on that a bit. What do you think? Will pom pom flowers be the cool new thing of 2011? I'm betting on yes...
