Hello there! My name is Kate McCurrach and I am a 30 something crafty gal born and raised Kamloops, B.C. I live with my wonderfully supportive and artistic husband Fraser and together we leave a dreamy life of kittens and sunshine (minus the kittens...since Fraser is allergic....)

I create lovingly illustrated and handmade geekery for my etsy shop "scientific culture" and also peddle my wares at craft shows and in shops through wholesale and consignment! (Check out my range of products here!)  Although I've been creating since I was a kid I decided to start my internet selling after graduating with a degree in cellular, molecular, microbial biology. I am overly enthused about everything science and decided the best way to spread my excitement was by selling cute science crafts! My creating has since spread into all sorts of geekery and I continue to explore new media and techniques (although I do have a soft spot for illustration, felt embroidery, and crochet).  I am a strong believer that science + cute (generally in the form of anthropomorphized wide set eye smiles) = awesome and I hope you think so too!

I have a plethora of hobbies and am always up for learning something new! I am not so secretly an old lady (I do enjoy my tea, doilies, and skin coverage) and love sharing my passions through blogging.  I am quite fond of accessories (bring on the jewelry and clutches) and dabble in budget fashion. I'm a strong believer in treating others how you would like to be treated and I treasure all of the close friendships I've made over the years. I'm an avid pen-pal and try to make thoughtful letters and stationary for anyone interested in post. I also have an ongoing love affair with music and live for CBC Radio 3.  I think there is no better way to spend a morning than sifting through the wonders of the internet and am always up for sharing my finds. I also try my hand at thrift shopping, gluten free cooking, and decorating, although I've still got a ways to go before I master those...

I try my best to blog daily and truly appreciate you taking the time to stop by! Thanks!

hugs and kittens,
