Mrow-y Caturday

Nothing perks up a beautiful sunny summer Saturday like a good ol' fashion angry (and hilarious) looking cat. Behold:

Friday Find: Crazy Couture

Well Sarra - today's post is for you! Etsy's Crazy Couture does the most wonderful crafts by turning plastic dinosaurs into succulent pots! Hooray! Here are a few hanging out in their natural habitat:

(source)
Well aren't those darling! Heck, I even manage to not kill many of my succulents so maybe these would be just perfect for me. Let's look at a few more shall we?

(source)

Yup. I'm in love. I think these dudes would be perfect on a desk (if, well...I had a desk job) or maybe just strewn out around my already populated with little fake creatures house. Perfection! What do you think?

Somebody Tasty!

Life has caught up with me recently and I haven't been scheduling blog posts ahead of time like I usually do.  Instead I've been throwing together posts with whatever is currently tickling my fancy the night before and hoping it is somewhat entertaining to you lovely blog readers out there! Today is yet another one of those posts and when searching for silly dinosaur crafts I came across this (which isn't actually a craft at all...and just an image...):

(source)
Oh my! The lovely illustrated works of Gemma Correll never fail to disappoint! I love following her on instagram and seeing what silly (and marvelously entertaining) things she comes up with next! Strangely enough it turns out that she drew the "who invited the herbivore" tshirt I oogled over yesterday! How about that?  Funny how I don't seem to put things together and after seeing it was her print - I totally recognize that charming drawing style. Oh what a small dinosaur loving world! Any thoughts? Eaten anyone tasty lately?

Hungry Threadless Dinosaurs

Apparently it's dino week here on the blog, and since I've been seeing so many fun illustrations of eating dinosaurs I thought I'd share my three faves you can purchase in tshirt form from the ever popular online shop Threadless! Let's take a peek:

1) Who invited the herbivore?

(source)

2) Know your dinosaurs

(source)

3) Omnomnomivore (my person fave)

(source)

Hehe! What a great combination of cute, silly, and prehistoric! It certainly makes me want to do a little online tshirt shopping but for now I'll stick to enjoying these gems in online form! What do you think? Which do you like best? Are you a graphic dinosaur tshirt enthusiast?

stripey owls!

Everyone needs some homemade chubby little owls in their life! Well, I figure as much, and when I came across these wee knit friends on Ravelry I fell in love (link)! Oh look at those knit owl poufs:

(source)

Looks like the perfect opportunity to test out my limited knitting skills - and leaves me with little pals!  Oh those furry yarn ears, three stitch feets, and big button eyes are just so darling! As soon as fall hits, this one is certainly on my "to make" list. I think these owls would be just great stung up in a nice wintery shop display, or since I am shop-less, perhaps just strung up in the house (say, the kitchen, front patio window, or open doorway?) Hmm. I've got a few months before sweater season comes back and I need to decide. What do you think? Which owl pouf do you like best?

Meet Penny

It's official. I've gone dinosaur craft crazy in the last few days. Sure I've always been a fan of turning plastic dinosaurs into creative amazing things, but after Jana from Studio 3 Twelve commented on the dino garland the other day, I've become head over heels and fell in love with her Pinnieasaurus! Behold:

(source)
Isn't she sweet? Her name is Penny, she loves sewing - but cursing her genetic shortcomings her tiny little limbs make reaching the petals all too difficult. Instead she's determined to be the best sewing helper and conveniently holds pins! Check out more of Penny on Jana's blog (link) because hopefully you're drooling over how fun she is too!

Cindy and I have been planning a large dinosaur glitter project (which is exactly as it sounds - find a giant dinosaur, cover him with glitter) but now I'm thinking I need to work some use into said dino. I do really love the pin cushion idea since I'm always up for an extra hand and encouragement when I whip out the machine but I'm a magnet pincushion girl so I doubt I'd be patient enough to voodoo my poor Pinnieasaurus' back each time I used a pin. Hmm...I'll have to keep brainstorming on that one  but in the meantime am so so happy Jana shared her creation with us! Hooray! What do you think? What would you like your dinosaur to help you with?

Amanita July!

Hooray! We've made it to July and it is time for the weather to turn summery (take that as a threat Mother Nature - I'm losing patience!), and we have an entire month of sunshine-y goodness! It also means it's time for a new printable calendar here on the blog and since I've been all about the amantias as of late - how about a nice bright mushroom themed one for the month! Yay!

you can download me here!

Just like last months, I made this baby using the My Memories software and I am totally loving how simple it is to use! I was a little sad I couldn't alter a few of the colours (in case you weren't aware - I am very choosey when it comes to colours, my parents even call me "the colour police!"), but since summer is in full swing I opted to keep the bright yellows in there to suit the season! Yeah! Also similar to our yarn-filled June printable, this baby is perfectly sized for printing, cutting, and displaying in a CD jewel case:

Ack! Looks like I didn't update that DIY to match the month, but I've been busy busy busy crafting away and figured the instructions were just too good to change (no, laziness wasn't in play here...hehe...). I hope you enjoy the smiling mushroom for the month and hopefully the calendar will even help you plan out your month!

As for my July, Fraser and I have a boat full of visitors coming all month long! Whew, I'm sure time will fly faster than ever and I'm hoping to be able to get out (slopped in sunscreen of course) and enjoy some summer heat! Heck - we may even join in the festivities downtown today and help bring in Canada Day! Do I work at 5am tomorrow morning? Yes. Will that stop me? Heck no! Happy birthday Canada! What do you have planned for July?
