A sheep in the hand

When I started selling on etsy back in 2008 I was overjoyed to join the mad scientists of etsy (msoe) group! It gave me the wonderful opportunity to meet and share with other science loving crafters and have some fun participating in group events. Each month we do a crafting challenge where each member is invited to make an item based on the month's sciencey theme. February's theme was Keith Campbell (one of the scientists in charge for cloning dolly the sheep) and I was thrilled to get back in the swing of doing the monthly challenges! Since I am a sucker for felt, brooches, and cuteness I decided to make a dolly felt brooch - take a look:

Isn't she cute? I am really happy with how she turned out and I especially like how her face looks:

She's got wide set eyes and everything! Plus I am a strong believer that brooches are highly overdue for a comeback so hopefully someone will snap this pin up from my shop! Heck, if it's successful maybe I'll even start a line of felt brooch creatures! Any ideas? What do you think?

Feather Brooch Time

Once again I rock at sticking my 2010 goals! Not only have I managed to somehow come up with a blog post a day all year (and at least until march 9th according to my list of bloggy ideas on my desk) but I've also managed to do the february mad scientists of etsy "feathers" challenge! (In case you're interested the jan challenge is located here). After a long night of embroidering and watching "Forest Gump" and "The secret to my success"I hand crafted this golden felt feather brooch:

I'm really quite pleased with how it turned out and in love with the gold colour! Or according to jim "it looks better then I thought it would". Thanks jim. What do you think?

Good call lindsay!

As part of my "let's rock etsy for 2010" goals, I did the mad scientists of etsy (msoe) team's january "valentine's day" challenge (just in time too!). Since I'm not a big fan of feb.14, I opted to go for that love robot coffee sleeve I've been promising to craft up for lindsay for ages now (seriously - ages - read this post). Because even if I'm not the love-y type, I do enjoy robots and tea! The verdict? Amazing! Take a look:

I'm really happy with how it turned out and the snap closure is much easier than my original "have to hand sew shut" design. And best of all? It totally sold within 20 minutes of posting it! Lindsay - you're genius! I guess once I finish up the other three projects I'm crafting on I'll have to attempt mass production of these suckers! Hooray!

In other news - high five me! I managed to do a blog post for every day of january! I think this will be like most people's new years resolutions and start off strong followed by dwindling epic fail. Yup. We'll see...
