This is me...except with an iPad.

Do you ever see or read things on the internet and identify with them completely? I certainly do. I figure either there are a ton of people out there just like me, or perhaps just a select few crazy ones that also enjoy blogging and cats. Check out this comic from cat vs. human:

Ahahaha! Yup totally me with a few minor adjustments (no actual live cats in the bed with Fraser's allergies and replace iPhone with iPad). Seriously - I have no idea how I ever functioned without the internet at my finger tips. Pretty much every morning (or late night awakening) involves me grabbing my heat pad and sticking it on whatever body part is giving me troubles and then reaching for the iPad and checking my email, Pinterest, and addicting cute free apps (right now I'm all over Smurf gardening and Tiny Zoo). Ah what a hard life I live! I also find the early morning bed internet surfing wonderful for watching videos (generally involving either cute cats or how to do cool hairstyles) which is the perfect way to start your day if you ask me! How about you? Are you addicted to the internet?

Life Lessons on a Wednesday..

Once again Cat vs. Human teaches us another very important life lesson - dinosaurs don't actually make good pets (click to link and enlarge):

Well that bow is awfully cute...wait...there is more pro-kitten evidence:

Yup. Good thing dinosaurs aren't available in the pet store. I think I'll stick to dreaming about having a kitty and keep painting inanimate dinos gold as pet alternatives for now...what do you think?

Dr. Bandaid and a series of puns

It seems that I've talked about the amazing webcomic "my cardboard life" on quite a few occasions (link, link, link). Clearly I should give up my attempts to get any of my readers hooked on the wonderful british cut and pasted comic strips but apparently I'm up for one more try! I was looking through my mass amounts of "draft" blog posts (a.k.a. when I see a tutorial/blog post/random thing I like then save the link as a "draft new post" for future uninspired blogging moments) and came across some wonderful comics featuring three of my favourite things - dr. bandaid, terrible awkward attempts at romance, and puns! With valentines day peeking up on the horizon I figured it was now or never to revisit these with you. Let's be serious here - who doesn't love a good pun? Here we go:

and then the ultimate in valentine'y goodness:

Oh dear - dr. bandaid - one day your puns will work for you. I have also discovered that you can even purchase your own "dr. bandaids hot guide to romance" on the site too! OooO! And they have a digital paper doll colin/pauline dress up game there too! Once again proving the well known fact that everything is better when it comes from the UK...*sigh*

Banjo-tastic!

As you may recall, back in mid-july I did a post about the awesome webcomics/cut out strips of "my cardboard life" (if you don't remember - you can check it out here). Well I (obviously) still really enjoy the comics and they constantly make my day with their hilarity! (Especially since my most favourite webcomic "the unfeasible adventures of beaver and steve" has been on hiatus since 2008). When I came across my cardboard life's latest comic I just had to share it with all of you:

Yay! Successfully combining cardboard colin and an angry looking pink banjo playing polar bear! Priceless! And providing a convenient transition for me to chat about banjos for a while! Double win!

If you're an avid kate blog reader you may have noticed my obsession with banjos (perhaps in one of my previous eight posts I've mentioned them in...). Well yes. Banjos are pretty super rad in my eyes and learning to play one is part of my resolutions for the year! So since I've already been doing such a great job of blogging every day and breaking into the world of craft shows - it is time for the banjo!

First step of banjo playing wonder? Purchasing a banjo! Which...I did a few months ago. So far banjo really seems to enjoy chilling out in its case (by that back door we have never used):

Poor banjo. Unfortunately with the move and crazy hectic craft sale schedules I haven't had much spare time to get to the second step of banjo playing and actually learn it - but not to worry! There is still time before we hit 2011! I even bought some banjo playing books on amazon and have a musical genius of a friend who is willing to show me the ropes! Plus it is so pretty! Take a look at banjo out of its case:

Fun! I am totally destined to reach my goal of being the coolest 30 year old banjo playing crafty woman in kamloops! Heck! I've got 4 whole years to get there! And even if I haven't really gotten to playing the banjo yet, I do enjoy how gorgeous it is. Check out those charming flowery/heart details on the frets:

*Sigh* I figure once the xmas crazy craft selling season is over I will have a whole month to pick it up and awe the world with my plinking skills! But I do have quite the number of craft projects on my to do list...so...we'll see how that works for me...

Blarg, parts 1 and 2

As I introduced on monday, I had a spout of web comic creation back in 2005. It was a very short lasted endeavor, but enjoyable nonetheless. The "Blarg" comic I'm about to share with you was by far my favourite strip and shortly after I came up with this one I moved to kelowna where I no longer had a scanner thus killing the web comic dreams. Oh well. It was good while it lasted. Here we go:

"Blarg - Part 1":

Oh no! Cliff hanger (literally?)! This was around exam time when I certainly felt like I was falling toward inevitable doom. How in the world would I get out of this one? Well I'm feeling generous so lets check it out..

"Blarg - part 2":

Haha! Yup. I still love this one! (and superman and kittens for that matter!). And being thursday I'm officially back from vancouver and back to reality. Hopefully my mini break wasn't just a dream...

Stress Monkey of the past

When I was searching for things to blog about while amidst my mini break (and I mean mini), I came across a link to my old live journal account. Back in the days before I had even dreamed of etsy and blogging I, indeed, had a livejournal. I also had great aspirations to become a great webcomic artist! That dream lasted a whole month or so, successfully placing my cartooning career in a shallow grave along with that account apparently. Well - what better time than the present to dig up the past and share a few of my comic gems! I also find them quite suiting to my current situation, since although I am no longer a slave to school work, I am in a constant state of stress requiring said mini break at the beginning of this post! Hurrah! Here we go:

Comic #1 - "Stress Monkey"

My very first web comic! Way to establish a set style and character base kate! I remember a few people not really "getting" the strip so in case you're a little lost as well it isn't that complex. I was stressed out, dreaming of the days when I wasn't, then converting to full stress monkey form dreaming of the days when I wasn't as stressed out. Comic genius I know. I see no reason why this web comic ever failed...

On to comic #2 - "Things"

I think this was about the denial stage of university. By the looks of that scattered to do list (why yes, I wrote epic lists back then too) this was first semester of fourth year. No better time than to forget being an overachiever and dream about my grade 11 physics teacher. Man did he have a dreamy voice...

Hope you enjoyed this little blast from the past! I certainly did! And hopefully I'm enjoying some lovely post concert shopping right about now! Stress monkey no more!
