Oh my! Garaldine stole my heart for the first three seasons and now that I'm getting into season four, I'm warming up to Julia MacKenzie as Miss Marple as well:

I feel like Julia's appearance is more sweet than sassy like Geraldine, but not so secretly I think I just liked Geraldine more because lots of her features and strong female presence remind me of what my grandmas' were like (and trust me, I had some amazing grandmas!). If you haven't had a chance to catch an episode I highly recommend it but make sure you are paying attention (and not multitasking too much in the background) because those plots are twisty! I'm sure that comes with the joys of being based on the best selling Agatha Christie novels and not just some murder mystery formula hollywood pushes out, but I am certainly enjoying this Miss Marple series more than the BBC versions from the 80's. *Sigh* Now I just need to prepare myself for an even bigger void that will be dug once I've made it through this series...
I'm going though all of the Murder, She Wrote episodes right now myself and I agree that it will definitely be sad when I get to the end. Right now I'm on season 8 so there are still a few more to go, which is good!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, thanks for the recommendation of a show to start after this one! :) I will have to give it a try! And if you are in need of a recommendation after you finish Marple - you should get hooked on Matlock and Diagnosis Murder (if you havn't already)! Those two are my favorites!

My vote goes for Geraldine. I enjoy the sassy!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I love both Murder She Wrote and Miss Marple. I always had this theory that Jessica was the murderer. I mean what is the likelihood that that many random murders would occur wherever she goes? I also want a shirt that says J.B. Fletcher is my homegirl, just saying.
ReplyDeleteI have always been a big fan of those kinds of murder shows. I grew up watching TVO (an educational station in Ontario) and they showed BBC mysteries often. I also really enjoy Poirot, Frost, and Columbo. I should get back into watching those again.
I love Miss Marple! I am a huge Agatha Christie fan in general actually, and have a whole shelf dedicated to her novels (um ... there's quite a few! ~_^)
ReplyDeleteMaybe after you finish Miss Marple you could give Poirot a go? Or if you're interested in something more modern, maybe Castle? They are both pretty awesome ^_^
