The snow continues...

So you know how we got a little dusting of snow yesterday? Well, it didn't stop. That slight ground cover turned into a blanket and by the end of the morning it was a full out blizzard. Snow fall warnings, ghost town roads, and panicked Victorians were all the buzz and school was even canceled! Wow! A full out snow day! I still had to work and even though the majority of people were frightened of the thought of driving, my trip home was a breeze. The biggest threat is all the stupid people on the road who don't know how to drive in the snow (and the fact that Victoria has two snow plows and loads of busy roads to keep up with)! So how much snow validates a snow day here? Take a peek:

Ooop! My ivy and bamboo got a bit of a snow covering! Here's the rest of the yard:

Apparently 10 cms is enough to close up the town for the day and with the forecast seeing nothing but more snow for the next few days I wonder how people will deal! I took the opportunity to enjoy the deserted-ness and go shopping for some yarn. Why you may wonder? So my sis can knit me some adorable totoro mittens like the ones Cindy made for Sarra:

Ahhhh!!!! Those are totally the cutest mittens ever! Micheals was completely empty making a perfect shopping experience since loads of staff was available to help, tons of stuff was on sale, and I even had some coupons! Hooray! Now to get ready for my mom and uncle to come visit tomorrow (and then take the yarn up to my sis so she can get knittin')! How is your day going? Have you ever had a snow day?

  1. Holy cow! I just CO this pattern today! Too funny :D That color looks lovely. What color will yours be? It was tough for me to decide on a color. I went with blue but might change my mind now after seeing that photo. Do you have Micheals rewards in Canada? I've reached Gold status very quickly. It's great having coupons right on the card.

It's very snowy here in Pittsburgh, Pa. The weather is wonky - rain and snow on and off. It was 40*F and rainy on Tuesday, which melted the snow and now it's freezing and snowy :P

    1. I wish we had Micheals rewards in Canada but sadly not yet. I go there so often I bet it would be worth my while!

  2. I think I'm going to make mine out of red and cream, though gray or perhaps blue seems a little more Totoro-like. What colours will you have picked? Let me guess - charcoal? :)

I wish they'd cancel stuff here for 10cm of snow. Then we wouldn't have to leave the house from December until April!

  3. You will all have to wait and see the colours I picked when the mittens are done! Yay!

  4. I've never had a snow day - it's too hot here! Today we have thunderstorms and it's 35o! (That's 95f for you folks, I believe ^_^) It's warm! (and kinda gross)

Also, I have heard SO much about Micheals - I have a vision in my head of it being a wonderful craft heaven. Is it? Should I be wishing harder that we had them in Australia? ^_^

    1. Micheals is pretty great for the basics but there are still a few things I wish they'd carry (i.e. wool felt and button making parts). Their prices are also pretty high, but if you use a 40% off coupon (which are fairly easy to come by) it is worth it. You'll have to come visit Canada and see for yourself!
