DIY soot sprites!

During my daily blog reading I came across a very cute soot sprite DIY from my paper crane. What are soot sprites you may ask? Well they are the super adorable little creatures that live in abandoned buildings! Ok - so they might be made up but studio ghibli sure makes them look cute in both my neighbour totoro (first image) and spirited away (second image):

Adorable! Now check out the tutorial sprites:

So much cute! My paper crane makes these dudes out of black minky fabric but I think they would be just lovely out of pom poms! Looks like I need to pick up some black yarn and start preparing my dvd collection for when my niece jean comes over and is old enough to love soot sprites! Or maybe I'll just make some for fun and hang them up in the corners of my crafting nook - or fraser's studio room? Hmm...what do you think?

  1. Cute! I have never seen either of those movies, though I've heard good things about both of them.

  2. Aren't the ones in the first picture kind of creepy? Like invasion of the spider creatures? Maybe it's a Mom thing. The last ones are the cutest. Mom

  4. Lol, when I saw this I said "Hey! It's those little guys from that movie!" (Spirited Away). That's a good idea using pom poms, at first glance they looked like pom poms. :)
