mull it over

This holiday season I had the wonderful pleasure to be introduced to the fantastic world of crock pot mulled cider! What a delicious warm festive treat I have been dying to recreate!

Luckily home made simple hand delivered (er...emailed?) me a wonderful recipe for a homemade mulling spices sachet to use as the base of your recipe! I might even have all the ingredients in my cupboard as we speak. All you need is orange peel, cinnamon sticks, allspice, and cloves! Wrap them up in some cheesecloth and you're set! Then you can modify your beverage with apple juice (yum), ginger, star anise, peppercorns, or (as we had at our staff xmas party) booze (I think we used triple sec and spiced rum)! Nummers! And since I got a wonderful crock pot from my mom for xmas (or at least I hope I did...I am pre-scheduling this blog post and xmas hasn't happened yet...) I'll be all set! Any tips for an inexperienced mulled cider maker? I'd love to know what recipes you use (and that maybe I just lived under a rock for the last 26 years and mulled cider is actually pretty common...) What do you think?

  1. Don't worry about rocks, as was noted by the one of many OLDER people I have met under the sun "trends are recycled every 25 years." Clock us back to 1985 and I would say that was about the end of the crock pot wonder years....until 2011...

    Palms and sunshine,

  2. Did you know everything you were getting for Christmas ahead of time? Kind of takes the fun out of it, don't you think? I'll bet you had no idea what I was giving you!
